From the Desk of Mark Silverman, Vice President, TMA Communications
In today’s rapidly evolving global landscape, uncertainty has become a familiar companion. As businesses face unprecedented challenges and commercial real estate assets continue down the path of distress, the TMA stands as a steadfast partner.
The TMA is more than just an organization; it is a community of professionals dedicated to providing solutions in distressed situations, fostering relationships, and facilitating referrals that drive success. In an environment where change is the only constant, TMA serves as a reliable North Star, helping members chart a course through complexity with confidence and clarity.
The connections formed within TMA are invaluable. They extend beyond professional networks to become enduring partnerships that can withstand the pressures of uncertainty. Whether seeking strategic advice, exploring new opportunities, or simply connecting with peers who understand the intricacies of turnaround management, TMA members find a wealth of resources and support.
I am constantly reminded of why the TMA is an important centerpiece of my professional career. I consistently receive calls from members to bat around ideas. They are not necessarily seeking legal advice, and the conversations do not always lead to new engagements, but the calls are impactful to all involved. The bonds created through the TMA withstand even in otherwise unstable times.
At a recent TMA event, a colleague, friend, and long-time member shared an insightful observation that captures the essence of our professional journey. A decade or so ago, many of us in the current TMA leadership watched as the senior figures in our organizations gathered and mingled with their TMA peers—often as eager observers. Today, we find ourselves in a pivotal phase, where we are the generation with those meaningful friendships and connections, poised to welcome the next wave of leaders into this vibrant community.
This realization underscores a powerful truth: despite the myriad changes the world, industry, and TMA members have faced as individuals, the relationships cultivated within the TMA have not only endured but flourished. These connections continue to inspire and guide us, providing a steady foundation as we navigate the complexities of our professional lives.
As we continue to navigate these seemingly endless “once-in-a-lifetime” events, the TMA remains committed to empowering its members with the tools and insights necessary to transform distress into opportunity.
Together, we continue to drive innovation, resilience, and success in this space.
Sincerely,

Mark Silverman
